Bigger than it looksReview by Mikel

Pros: Roomy. Lots of external pockets. Axe slide pocket. Made in USA. Classic look. Lifetime Guarantee.
Cons: The shoulder strap system is uncomfortable with a heavy pack. Should have added a sternum strap and belt system.

Duluth must have listened to one of the reviews on adding a top carry handle because my pack has it. This shows that Duluth listens to their customers!
Gave the pack a 4 just because of the shoulder straps. Otherwise it would be a 5. (Posted on 5/20/2014)
Huge, well crafted, and worth every cent!Review by Zak

Most of my issued gear is Cordura, a fake canvas-esque material. It's not bad, but it simply cannot stand up to the rigors of true Canvas!

This pack is incredible. Firstly, it's much larger than it looks. I can fit ALL of my backpacking gear plus a pillow on top and I still have a little bit of room. The side pouches are sizable and, in case you're wondering, do fit an older style military canteen and canteen cup/stove with about 3 inches to spare. The Map-flap is a great addition!

My one problem is no handle on top. I would like to see that integrated. Also, 4 more lashing point on top might not be bad either!

But, as is, this pack is by far the best quality pack you'll use in your life! It's more than just a pack; it's an heirloom you can pass on to your kids! (Posted on 6/14/2013)

I ordered this pack based on the reviews and it met all expectations. The features and designs were exactly as advertised. A well-made and rugged pack. I will certainly be buying from this company again. (Posted on 3/13/2013)

Would you ever consider eliminating the stainless steels buckles in favor of Fastex quick release fasteners and constructing a quasi tactical pack? I have ordered items from your Co. Before and have always been pleased with the quality. I have a need for an indestructible pack modernized with up to date features that make it nonreflective and quiet. (Posted on 1/14/2013)

I watched the video reviews of this pack and it looked great and held a lot of gear... however i found i had to make two mods on this pack to make it work for me.
1/ a grab/handle at the top of the shoulder straps. I hate to have my pack on the ground and it make it easier to access when it is hanging and not on the damp/wet ground.
2/ add two lash points to the top flap so can lash my blanket there instead of the bottom... damp/wet ground thing again.

Once i made those to modification this pack is great for my style of bushcrafting . without these modification i would never use it

Not a good Duluth PackReview by Glen

I am a long time Duluth Pack customer. I have 3 other packs from DP, a rucksack (now in backpack heaven), a utility, and a Monarch 4 (built like a tank). All have given me years of wonderful service. 4 months ago I received my Pathfinder. I was surprised to receive it 10 days after I ordered it, because they are supposedly made to order and take 4-6 wks. When I examined it, it looked as if had been made in a hurry. The stitchwork was very sloppy. Now after 4 months, the stitches are coming apart in places. I cannot return it, because as the ad says above, made to order cannot be returned. Not at all up to the standard I have come to expect from Duluth Pack.

DULUTH PACK RESPONSE:

Very ImpressedReview by -Noah

I received this pack and was immediately impressed by the workmanship. Reinforced seams and buckles all around. On my first trip I took this pack on a 10 mile hike along the Copper River in Chitina Alaska for a dip netting trip. In my pack I had a gallon of water, rain coat, hip waders, filet knife, survival knife, folding saw, 3 stringers, fleece jacket, gloves, knit hat, change of dry cloths, food, .44 mag revolver (for bears), camera, and multiple plastic bags. All in all it was between 35-45 lbs. My dip net trip was unsuccessful but I was absolutely amazed by the pack. Even with all I brought with me I had lots of room to spare. The pack was very comfortable the whole way riding just right and as long as I packed everything correctly I had no sharp edges or rub spots. The wide shoulder straps rode comfortably and didn’t slip even when wearing the pack over my rain coat. The waxed canvas stood up to the on again off again rain all day with nothing inside getting wet. It also withstood my slipping and sliding down the steep banks to the river, I even took a couple slips landing directly on the pack. The slick sharp rocks left a couple marks but no damage, and it protected my back from scrapes and cuts. All in all I have nothing but great things to say about the pack. Thanks for the fantastic product. (Posted on 6/10/2012)

I recently purchased the waxed version of the pathfinder pack. The first time I used it was on a 12 mile hike in the Colorado Rockies. I'm a "tool" kind of guy, and the knife and axe pockets that are built into the pathfinder beg to be filled. And of course two quart sized water bottles, along with all the survival gear you need at 10,000 feet. By the time our 12 mile hike was over I had only one single suggestion for improvment; padded shoulder straps. I love this pack, and I love the fact that it is made in America. (Posted on 11/1/2011)
