I own many packs, bags, luggage etc.etc. from Duluth Pack. The Sparky bag is my most used and loved bag.
Just the best. (Posted on 7/6/2014)

I have had this bag for about six months. Waited to write review until I had taken it on a serious hike. I have used as a carry-on, brief case day bag and on a day hike. As with all Duluth products it is simple and extremely well made. I will wear out before it does. Fits my medium frame well although might be too big for a small person. Side pouches can easily hold a one liter water bottle or my reading galsses and cell phone. Main area can hold all you need for a day hike or over night. I have also carried my ski boots in it. Just had bag on a day hike that included long climb and rock scrambles. Bag was solid and stable through all. Would recommend for school, city, or woodland day hikes. Probably not the best for technical stuff like back country skiing or very hot weather. (Posted on 8/22/2012)

I bought the Sparky in waxed and have dragged it through the rain, steams, mud, snow and baking sun for the past two years. I use this pack daily for everything from kayaking, carry on, hiking, lunch bag, and baseball gear bag. My Sparky looks as good as the day I got it in the mail. This thing is built tough and rugged. I'll keep on abusing it and when it does fail I'll definately send it back in for repairs and order another new one for a back-up at that time! (Posted on 2/7/2012)

I bought this pack in 1994 at the Canal Park store in Duluth,MN. It has been my constant companion - on hiking trails, campsites, fishing excursions and business trips.
It gets better with age and experience.

This bag is very comfortable, classy, and tough. I use it for all kinds of things, it's especially good for collecting rocks and boulders on the beach, bushwacking through brush, and other pack-destructive activities. I don't think it will ever wear out, and the padded shoulder straps are extremely comfortable. It's great! (Posted on 10/6/2011)

My father originally bought this pack for day hikes; I now use it for college. Durable, roomy and just about indestructible, the Sparky bag is a wise investment. The size belies what the pack can really hold- I have to carry around a lot of adaptive equipment and I haven't had the need for a second bag. (Posted on 8/21/2011)

Bought daughter a Sparky Bag in Duluth when she was going into her freshman year at College of St Benedict - she used it daily for 4 years - had it embroidered with name and college (actually, picture on Sparkey bag part of webpage is her using it in Rome/Study abroad). Now is going off to Vermont to Grad School - will have it embroidered again with different school name - she'll use it daily there too. Not one problem with the product. As good as my two old #4 bags that have been to Quetico a dozen times. Nice people in the store too. I'll buy another one for the boy when he graduates high school soon. (Posted on 6/9/2011)

My old pack fell apart after 15 years regular use so i stated looking about. I hate spending money so was looking for a pack built to last, not 15 years this time but 30! Ordered from the states (to England) i was impressed with the speed of delivery, 14 days in my hand.
I am certainly impressed with the bag, the information on this site leaves you with a good idea of what you get but like everything it is only when you see and feel the product can you really know. I now know, these are great bags for the money.
The only thing i would change would be to put two leather straps through the lash tabs at manufacture as these are real hard to get straps threaded through and it would be nice to have two straps of the same leather as the straps on the bag, these tabs were an important consideration for me as that is where my raincoat will sit.
I have no doubt in my mind that i will be back for more. Thanks for a great bag. (Posted on 9/23/2010)

Added as day pack and met or exceeded all expectations. Beware that colors (my case burgundy) bled into other packs/clothes at the first rain. I did not expect and should have anticipated. (Posted on 7/27/2010)

Bombproof, beautiful, and terrifically organized. This pack has it all, and then some. My only addition: a "utility panel" inside the main compartment for things like pens, phone, ipod, whatever. I added one to mine myself and it made this pack as close to perfect as it gets! (Posted on 7/19/2010)

I've had my sparky bag for over 5 years now and just love it. Durable as all get-out, and while not a huge bag, I have been able to fit a lot of gear in to it. I love the size of the side pockets. And the quality of Duluth Pack construction and customer service is unrivaled! (Posted on 7/19/2010)

Excellent Hunting PackReview by Ken

I've worn this pack to out deer hunting in the northern woods of Minnesota for two years now. It still looks like new! It holds everything I need for a full day in the woods, easy access to hydration bottles are right on the side, and it just shrugs off the snowy branches, tree bark, and the thickest brush that I have to push through. Binoculars, GPS, knife, spare gloves, and extra winter gear are kept perfectly clean and scratch free in this pack; no sticks poke through the canvas and the handy bungee is great for stowing those layers you peel off during the heat of the day. Quickly shrug it off, clip it into a hoist, and drag it up the side of any tree trunk, it won't care! Oversized zipper tracks with canvas fold-over flaps mean the zippers stay put and nothing accidentally falls out. This one's a winner. (Posted on 12/10/2009)
So close!Review by Globetrotter

Strong leather-backed straps and rivets make this a very sturdy day pack. Full-open zip front and side pockets are well sized and placed for quick access. Great for what it is - but extending the bottom down 3 inches, adding aluminum stays (to distribute shoulder-to-belt load) and a good cinch belt (to keep it moving with your body stride) would transform this sparky bag into a sparky weekender. So well made it can take the weight, but jumping creeks or bouldering up slopes begs it to swing like a pendulum. Great product for flat trail, and great if that meets you needs. This day pack is primmed to become a weekender backpack for hunters and trail blazers. If you'd like the same product, no time like the present to let Duluth Pack know these simple changes would do it.

My son got me a Sparky bag for my 50th birthday 2 years ago. I had never heard of Duluth Pack until then. I travel to National Parks around the country with my wife and our two dogs, and do a lot of hiking and sightseeing. I have brought this pack with me on every trip since. Not only have I put some serious use on this bag, but I have bought one for my wife too. It took the straps a couple trips to break in, but once they were it became very comfortable. I have had my eye on a few more Duluth Pack bags, and one of their Filson hats... Maybe my wife will see this message before her Christmas shopping is done... All things considered, the only thing I would have done differently, is gotten a different color... Other than that, this pack is great.

I use this product for weekend camping trips with my son's boyscout troop, family camping, canoe trips and weekend get aways. I am always amazed at just how much I can put in to this pack. I have several Duluth Packs and this one gets the most use. I would like to see a couple of small pockets on the outside of this pack for small items. The side pockets are great for larger items, but small items tend to get lost. All in all, this is a great pack.I do believe this will last a life time.
