Ready & Roam
When it comes to travel, it is easy to get overwhelmed. A quick Google search for “Best Restaurants in Cape Town” brings back a list of 100+ eateries and thousands of hits. Who wouldn’t get anxious?
We want to know the best places to stay, eat and experience but we don’t want to spend hours behind a computer trying to figure it out.
Enter: Ready & Roam, an online travel magazine curated by experienced travelers and local experts who are well connected and ready to share the “best of the best” with the world!
Ready & Roam was created by Minnesota natives, Katie Lang and Regina Folken, who are also parents, passionate travelers, and friends. Based in Minneapolis, Ready & Roam began when Lang and Folken called on their friends and family for tips and advice about places they had been to. As their community of like-minded travelers grew, Lang and Folken wanted a place to share those travel stories.

While their network evolved, Ready & Roam became established online and on social media. Through word of mouth, friends referring friends, and people reaching out to share their stories, Ready & Roam developed into a collaborative space for people’s travel tips to live and be easily accessible to others.
Creating Ready & Roam comes with its own challenges. Lang and Folken dedicate many hours to researching the information they acquire in order to ensure complete accuracy. Their goal is to deliver helpful, current and relevant material that travelers can reference before heading on their way to their destination.
To us, this is what sets Ready & Roam apart from the rest. They won’t overload you with information, but they will provide travelers with authentic, personal experiences tested by real people. Lang and Folken want you to be confident that you are getting the best advice out there.
Because at the end of the day, wouldn’t you want a local’s take on the best spots in the city? Or some tips from the traveler who has been going to the same place every year for the last 20 years?

Lang and Folken understand that as important as travel is, it is also a luxury. That is why they emphasize being deliberate about what you do when you go and how you do it. For instance, traveling with children changes the game. During our interview, Lang and Folken recommended finding a nice beach for young children, instead of planning a sightseeing adventure. The costs of travel change based on the size and ages of party members, so it’s important to plan accordingly. Ready & Roam has advice for all kinds of travel parties and families, so you can make the most of your travels.
We asked Lang and Folken what makes them love to travel-- and to embark on these adventures again and again. They told us that for them, the best part of travel is the people you meet on the way. Getting out of your comfort zone means you must learn new things, experience new opportunities and forge connections in all corners of the world. Not to mention, you grow a lot closer with your travel companions.
And as seasoned adventure queens, Lang and Folken know the importance of quality travel gear! That’s where we come in at Duluth Pack. While Lang is more of a Market Tote-kinda gal, Folken tends to go for the hands-free option of the Traverse Crossbody bag. While they both stand behind our travel-tested gear, they are also big fans of our home base -- Duluth, Minnesota. They love it so much, in fact, that they have written TWO Roam Guides about our beloved city.
So if you are looking for inspiration as to where to travel to next and hoping for a place to start and build your journey, we highly suggest checking out Ready & Roam first. That way you can rest easy knowing you are getting the best of the best. Just like here at Duluth Pack!
