Great bag, but wish it was a little wider
This bag is well made. However, I wish it was a little wider in each direction. It is very functional and accommodates all of my essentials. I do wish that it came with a east west style with a zipper top closure. As a teacher it would be better suited to carry files, etc. It would make transit travel and access for items much easier. Overall, I recommend to one and all. Review by Eve (Posted on 7/2/2015)
I bought the red one. I love it. Keeps me organized. Great for travel. Of course it is well made. I think I will get another in a waxed.... Review by Maureen (Posted on 4/14/2015)
Definitely waterproof!
Of course, there are tiny things I'd change to make this the Absolutely Perfect Purse. The bag could be a hair wider, I prefer a swing clasp over a buckle, et cetera. But this bag is phenomenal as it is, and it truly won my heart today. It was one of those days when everything went wrong, including my water bottle dumping its entire contents into my purse. Luckily, I'd chosen the waxed canvas version, and the lake was entirely contained to the main compartment. My gadgets, in the side and front pockets, stayed bone dry. This bag is truly waterproof (even at the seams), and that's the only reason I still have a phone tonight. Review by AVC (Posted on 10/29/2013)
It goes everywhere
I bought on of these is olive over 10 years ago. When I'm hunting, it's my hunting bag. When I'm fishing it holds extra fly boxes, lunch and a bottle of water or flask of
wild Turkey, depending on how cold it is. When I go to town, It is with me. The older it gets, the better it looks. It is the only bag I have ever seen that won't make a man feel like a sissy if he carries it. I take it with me everywhere and it has been given high marks by almost everyone who sees it. I don't think I'll be able to wear it out, so when I'm gone, someone will get one hell of a fine haversack.

I have had this bag for 10 + years and still love it. I use it daily. It's been to both Mexico and Costa Rica with me. Easy to travel with as it holds more than you think and keeps me organized. Treating myself to another as mine is just showing some wear and tear. Thank you for you quality craftsmanship. Worth every penny! Review by Cassie (Posted on 5/14/2013)
Love It!!!!!
I would recoomend the haversack to anyone. I have ms and a service dog to help. The haversack has taken everything both of us have thrown at it and still looks good after 5 years. I have decided to down size to the mini and as my original is still in good shape I am going to give it some love with Frebreeze and donate it to the local battered womens shelter to share with someone else who will enjoy it as much as me. Thanks again-Shelly Review by shelly (Posted on 3/1/2013)
Please tell my husband to get me this bag
Molly - I need you to subtly let Colin know I need this bag in red. Ok? Its flippin' awesome! Review by Carlie (Posted on 12/4/2012)
Absolutely the best
I purchased full sized haversack several years ago..... and also purchased one for my daughter. The sack has so many organizational areas that it is just the best to use and it looks as good as the day I received it. I am going to purchase another for a gift. thank you, thank you, thank you
I was lucky enough to get this bag in 2003 as the conference bag for the Society for Comparative Biology. I have carried it every day since and use it as my purse/everyday bag. Many other conference bags get used for trips to the post office, grocery trips or packed for travel but this bag is never empty. What a shock today to see how expensive it would be to replace. I guess I will just repair it. After nine years of rough abuse, there are holes in the bottom corners and at the top corners along the flap fold. The seams are all still intact. I don't keep anything in the body small enough to fall out so I still use it as is. There are plenty of pockets to secure small stuff. It will easily be repaired with a bit of patching. At less than a dollar a month so far I would heartily recommend this bag.

my favorite bag!
I bought this bag in waxed canvas as a companion for my Scoutpack backpack. I have Coach, D&B and Ralph Lauren bags and I have to say this little bag has become my go to everyday bag. My husband and kids can't believe that I've ditched my high-end bags for this little wonder. It holds everything I need for everyday errands and it's absolutely fabulous for travel. On a recent trip I packed it with my IPad, nikon digital camera, small cosmetic case, glasses (in the side pocket), pens, wallet and travel journal. Sounds like a lot but everything fit! Greatest bag ever! And made in the USA makes it that much more special! PS - one suggestion to make this bag even better...a zip pocket on the top flap for passport, keys etc. Review by V (Posted on 6/19/2012)

I carried one of these for 14 years and my purse and everyday bag and just happily received my second. I am excited to break in the new one. Excellent quality and craftsmanship! Proud owner of multiple duluth packs and love every one of them. Review by kaseyk (Posted on 4/14/2011)
get organized
I wanted this bag for a long time. While it is pricey, they will last forever if you take care of them. There are a couple of drawbacks...if you have any size to you and have ordered leather handles, you may want to order an extender from them. This makes the crossbody much more handy and comfortable. You can call them directly to order that. Also, if you are not careful, things can fall out. I wish they would work on that by adding snaps or velcro to inside pockets. Just learn to be careful. I also own a shell bag that was purchased years ago. Just gets better with time. Though the haversack has a few drawbacks, I would and probably will purchase another. Duluth Pack is good to work with. Review by pursegal (Posted on 4/2/2011)
Great size for traveling on air planes. Everything gets into one bag, and goes through scanning very good. Recommend it to anyone looking for a travel/every day tote. Goes any where any time. Review by Bushie Bear (Posted on 7/17/2010)
I've known five people, myself included, that own a haversack and I've seen it perform well from a purse to a school bag.

Long before the iPad came out my spouse and I found it handy for carrying small IBM Thinkpads and Eee PCs. It's also good for keeping sketchbooks or reading material handy when you don't want to lug around a huge backpack, not to mention plenty of places to keep writing utensils organized.

The haversack combines the tough and well thought out design of a Duluth Pack product with a convenient size, I highly recommend it!

Perfect iPad Bag!
I bought an iPad and it fits perfectly into the zipper pocket of the Haversack! I have a neoprene sleeve that goes into the zipper pocket and the iPad slips right in. Like it was MADE for the iPad. Review by Addibeth (Posted on 5/24/2010)
Great except not color fast.
I use this as my commuter bag. Especially when I'm commuting by bike, it gives me a better center of gravity than a back pack. It's just big enough to carry lunch and office accessories I don't want to leave at work each day. The only real problem I have, is the front side of the case is notably faded relative to the back. Still functional, just not as sharp to look at. Review by Matthew (Posted on 6/2/2009)
This is for guys, too.
I first bought this for my now wife. Then she packed it with too much stuff, so I got her the mini to keep the bulk down. I found this bag to be great when I am out looking for rocks and fossils. It holds quite a bit of stuff in seperate compartments and I can keep my field guides in there, too. I use bird watching binoculars and it's great to stow them away instead of around the neck. Remember the Jerry Seinfeld episode with the European Mans Bag? This isn't it. It's burly enough for anyone to carry.
