A flimsily constructed pack in comparison to Duluth's other productsReview by Catskill Walker
The zipper on the front compartment broke on my first test outing (no, it wasn't overstuffed, not that this should ever be a consideration with a Duluth pack). And I was disappointed with the quality of the leather on the side compartment straps, which were thin and soft to the point of flimsiness. Overall, this pack looks great but underperforms in comparison to Duluth's other products. I bought it for an extended international "ramble," somewhat bemused by the fact that the pack I had ordered bore that very name. But it proved to be a fantasy. Duluth will repair its packs, but it wouldn't exchange this one for something more functional, so when it came back from the factory I just gave it to Goodwill. Traveling outdoors abroad on a single pack, I couldn't afford a product I couldn't rely upon. I took an old canoe pack instead. (Posted on 9/19/2015)
Still great after 10 years!Review by Greg S
I use mine all the time and it has held up great. I use it for overnight travel frequently. Very rugged! (Posted on 5/22/2015)
5 years and still love itReview by Houston
I have owned a rambler pack now for 5 years and it still makes me happy every time I get to pull it out and use it. In several trips we've taken to the BWCA some of our packs have changed to fit different needs / personal preferences but my Rambler goes every time. It's also the bag I grab to go to cub scout camps with my kiddo and overnight visits (love that I can pack it full of clothes and then lay my pillow on top then close the top flap, there's always a little bit more room in this thing). During a period where I worked away from home it was the one and only pack I carried for my 2 week R&R's and it still worked as a carry on. A couple things I would change would be I would see if it were possible to custom order with the side pockets similar to the pathfinder with the sleeve behind the pocket for storing my hatchet and adding a couple D-rings to the top flap or side for attaching a water bottle, but even as it is I love it. this was the first of 5 Duluth packs for us and it's my favorite and most used. I have had this pack for 5 years. I use it at least 3 times a week as a pack I take to work. I have also taken it hiking and exploring on multiple occasions. The pack is just getting broke in a I have a feeling that it is going to last forever. I would expect nothing else from Duluth pack. Highly recommended. (Posted on 5/20/2014)
Best of the bestReview by DWH3
This pack is good for everything! I have used as my carry on over seas and in country. It rides so well I have used it for a 60 mile push ride on my longboard and even fallen on it at 50mph! You can't go wrong with this pack! (Posted on 7/31/2013)
Great pack!!Review by Wildrover
Wanted one of these for a long time!! Recently took it on a 2 week Greek Island hopping holiday & it was plenty big enough for all my stuff. No probs with using it as a carry on bag for the flight either. At around 55ltrs it's a good size for short or longer trips & robust enough not to worry where you drop it. Great value for money for something that will get better with age & last a lifetime. Well done Duluth!! (Posted on 3/2/2013)
TerrrificReview by MichaelS
I bought this for family trips, because, when traveling with three small children, we travel with huge quantities of stuff. I wanted a "catch all" that would have room for my things plus whatever else my kids wouldn't/couldn't carry. My daypack wouldn't cut it any longer, and I needed it to be just small enough to fit, fully stuffed, into an airplane overhead compartment. Finally, I needed something in which I could have complete faith. I can't have a bag stuffed like a pinata bursting apart while I'm trying to get my family in or out of a plane or through an airport. This bag just nails all those requirements: Just the right size, and with astonishing durability. You won't find perfectly aligned stitches, but you will find rugged materials, with everything reinforced where it needs to be reinforced. It is a life-time purchase. (Posted on 5/4/2012)
Great Pack, Highly Recommend it!Review by Drew
I've been using my Rambler for just under a year now, and I couldn't be happier. It has been on lots of car road trips, train and plane trips and still looks like new. It's small enough to be an airline carry on and 3-4 days of stuff fits no problem. The only issue I have is that the rivets are rough on nylon shirts inside the pack. I had a couple of snagged polos before I realized what was happening. Put jeans or something a bit more rugged next to the exposed rivet heads and the problem is solved. Overall, an outstanding product! (Posted on 1/20/2012)
Perfect size for day and weekend hiking trips.Review by DS
I've had my Rambler pack since 2008. I often use it in conjunction with the All Day Lumbar pack. They work perfectly together, and having the lumbar pack acts to transfer some of the load to your legs. The quality of both packs is outstanding! (Posted on 4/23/2011)
Well Loved Travelling CompanionReview by Liesl
I've had my waxed Rambler for about 7 years and am still in love. I use it for business and pleasure, air travel and camping, in winter and summer. Most recently it went with me to New Zealand (along with a Duluth Pack Rucksack) where it was a total champ. That it can be pressed into service as a carry-o bag in this day and age of luggage surcharges is a clear advantage. I have even put it under my plane seat . I'm 5'2", and I find that it fits a short person well--I can even put my short shoes in the side pockets. Its dimensions work perfectly with packing cubes, and when well packed, it holds enough for a week's worth of clothes and personal belongings even in colder weather. After many years now, nothing has even come close to failing and it gets better looking each season. I agree that lash points would be nice, but that said, I find most bulky things can be rolled up blanket-style under the top flap. (Posted on 3/6/2011)
