Very functional
Love this bag for work, it allows more and more stuff to keep getting added. My only issue with it is that it might be better suited for a taller/larger person. It is a little overwhelming and heavy for my 5'3" and 117 lb. frame and all the leather components make it a little heavy before you put anything in it. I didn't think I'd use the outside pockets much but they are great for charging cords for your phone and/or laptop. Review by NJH (Posted on 11/13/2016)
Indestructible and roomy
I've used this bag regularly for about ten years, carrying regularly about 20 lbs. of computer, books, and papers back and forth between home and my academic job. The bag is incredibly roomy, and the weight has not caused any wear or tear on the straps. The canvas and leather still look great. (I should say that I wear the strap across my chest, like a messenger bag, to protect my back). The only problem with the design is one that others have mentioned: the outside pockets really don't close securely when stuffed (as one will normally do!): a single strap won't keep the rain out or keep things from falling out in a tumble. Otherwise, I look forward to using this bag for another few decades. Review by DavidByKayak (Posted on 10/13/2016)
Solid pack, not-so-solid metal
I've had mine for over four years now, seeing near-daily use. Most of the pack has held up phenomenally, with the exception of the metal D-rings and bolt snap hooks used to connect the shoulder strap to the bag. Under the weight of a laptop, notebooks, and folders, One of the D-rings was actually worn all the way through after about three years, and the other one was nearing failure before I replaced it. The swivel joints in the bolt snaps have also slowly been worn down, but it will likely be years before those fail. Basically, this pack will serve you admirably as long as you don't overburden it, but it is somewhat disappointing that the metal used is so susceptible to abrasion. Perfect for my needs
It holds a 17-inch laptop and accessories. The two front pouches are perfect for the mouse and earbuds. The inside has compartments for that hold my calculator iPhone 6, pencils, and pens. The 2 inside pockets are perfect for papers, and one of them has a zipper. I've had a lot of compliments and a lot of people ask about it. I highly recommend it to all of them. Simple and Sturdy
The size was just what I needed and there are lots of great functional pockets and organization, but not too much as to be a pain or too specialized. This will be my companion for work for a long, long, time to come. Review by Fred J (Posted on 10/14/2013)
Perfect fit for me
I've spent the last few plus years carrying a Safari portfolio and it's held up wonderfully. I'd carry something else for a while but always return to it. I needed just a bit more room for my daily life and finally settled on a Freelance. I always do my research and looked at all the major name brands out there. I've been looking for several months. I just received the brown Freelance today and it's exactly what I needed and exceeded my expectations in appearance and comfort. The leather handles concerned me a bit but they're like butter in my hand. Duluth has already proved their product's durability and it's unmatched. The leather accents and the brass really makes the bag stand out. The brown is much better in person. A professional bag without a doubt. If you're looking for a daily bag that will look great no matter the environment then look no further. I recommend it without hesitation. Review by Sean (Posted on 3/5/2013)
This was my 1st Duluth Pack product.
First impression is "This thing is made of very durable materials and put together nicely. The zippers are big and easy to use, they hold tight. The pockets are creatively useful. I keep two pistols in a double shoulder holster, gun cleaning kit, extra magazines, magazine holster, flashlight holster, matching heavy duty belt and several boxes of ammo in this bag. It is absolutely perfect and more than strong enough to carry the weight. I call it "my long walk to Mexico bag" These Duluth Pack bags are so nice, you'll be coming up with reasons to buy more of them. Quality and Craftsmanship are excellent, made in the U.S.A. great briefcase with custom leather strap
I've had mine since 2000! Through final year of bachelors, grad school, and 3 positions! I've tried others including a Filson and always came back to this one! As for the custom strap, on a whim I dropped in at the factory and requested a leather strap as the oem was not working too well. The craftsman listened to what I was looking for. To my surprise, he dropped what he was doing and made a leather strap on the spot for me! Awesome! I have other Duluth Packs as well and will always buy another..... Ideal for any type of use!
This case is absolutely worth it! I used it for two years at school, carrying tens of books at a time in it. I bring camping, and to work, along with in the field for the national guard. The case still looks brand new, and I'm excited for it's use for many years to come! Review by Ryan (Posted on 7/15/2010)
75,000 miles a year and still going strong!
I bought my case about 6 years ago, I think they called it something different back then, but it's a real work horse that, like my #3, always has room for one more thing. There's an intangible element too, on even the longest, most painfully boring business trips, I can still look at it and see the direct connection to a quiet night on an island in Jackfish bay listening to the wolves howl on the bluff just East of us. Anywhere my portfolio goes a little bit of Ely and the BWCA goes too. Review by Don P. (Posted on 7/15/2010)
