What a Pack

I just got it in the mail this week and can't believe how big it really is. Quality hand made and tough. Can't wait to put it to the test. I will be headed into the woods as soon as the holidays are over. I've been trying out different gear in it and it hold everything I need. If you want to go a little old school and have a well made great looking pack then this is it. Review by Survival Guy (Toney) (Posted on 12/7/2016)

I purchased this pack on amazon, because of my amazon credit card points. i was conflicted between this pack and frost river because of the price, i am so glad i choose Duluth pack, my friend purchased frost river version, the quality of mine is far superior, the color and texture compared to his, my father was correct you get what you pay for, thank you Duluth pack Review by buzzboa (Posted on 3/23/2014)
Hunter's Day pack
Rating
I was gifted this pack a couple years ago, and use it from canoeing, hiking, but mostly for hunting. I abuse the heck out of it. I can stuff the large main compartment with extra clothing layers and safety harness plus food, etc, strap tree climbing sticks to the side with the straps, and attach my treestand on the back of it with carabiners to the D-rings. I've even strapped my rifle to the side with the 3 side straps. You can snug them down very tight, and while I initially was skeptical of the plastic clasps and nylon straps, they haven't failed me yet. The zippered pocket in the top flap is a bit awkward to use, and I wish it had one or two additional smaller zippered pouches on the interior, other than that this pack has served me very well, and I couldn't recommend it more. Cheap stiching and plastic clips.

My grandfather bought this pack while I was on deployment in Iraq last year in hopes that I would join him on a few day hikes when I got back. Sadly he passed away last month and in his memory I decided to Take a day hike on his favorite trail in loyal sock, Pa. After driving eight hours from Norfolk, Virginia and staying in a dirty bed and breakfast I packed my bush rafter and hit the trail. About two hours in a I took a break only to unDue my left outside pocket and have he metal Button to come apart. Also the sternum Strap is coming unstiched. Even tho it's a life time guarantee I can't return this item being it was te last gift from my grandfather. It's a shame an American made product made so poorly.

Get rid of the nylon please!
Rating
I was given this bag for the holidays. I got rid of it due to the plastic/nylon. Why can't you switch to leather and brass already? The plastic and nylon looks tacky and completely out of place. Otherwise, it was a fine looking pack I'd loved to have owned.

DULUTH PACK RESPONSE:
Thank you for your feedback! The reason we opted for nylon side cinch straps is because with the nylon, you can get a nice tight fit, significantly more so than using a leather strap with a roller buckle. If you'd like, we can custom make our Bushcrafter Pack with the leather cinch straps on the side. Please call our Customer Service Department if you are interested (1-800-777-4439).

Lost with the perfect pack
Rating
Shortly after recieving my Bushcrafter I packed her up and headed to Allegheny National Forest with some friends. Decided to bushwack and got lost overnight. One of the best days of my life other than the fact that I knew my friends were worried. I had absolutely everything I needed for several days if necessary in an extremely comfortable pack. The generous volume and narrow profile are perfect for bushwacking. Very comfortable, great design, and extremely well built. Strong Work Duluth. Review by Dale (Posted on 9/15/2011)
Surprisingly comfortable, and holds everything
Rating
I was looking for a large pack that would hold everything I need for oil painting, and also be comfortable enough to carry on hikes to remote locations. This is it! I couldn't be happier with the design and convenience of this pack. The tall pockets in front are perfect for small items, including brushes and water bottle. The main compartment holds my large 12" x 14" wooden paint box easily, along with extra clothing, lunch, turp can, sketchbook. The central location of the axe pocket in front is what initially sold me on it - perfect for the tripod I use to support the paint box, and awkward to stow in conventional packs. The nylon compression straps on the sides make this pack easily adjustable in volume, and for my use, leather would not be as functional, adding weight and bulk, as well as additional time spent in adjusting and securing the load. The only change I made is that I had Duluth add another pair of D-rings further up on the shoulder straps, - I'm small (5'4") and the sternum strap was placed too low for me. This is the best pack I've ever used - not too heavy either. I commonly carry about 25-30 pounds, and I can carry it easily and find it very comfortable in this pack. I love the rugged looks of the thing too, and the fact that it will probably outlast me. Review by Mary (Posted on 6/26/2011)
Great Pack
Rating
Got mine and it fit right off. Loaded it up and took it on the trail. The most comfortable pack I have ever had on. I would recommend some loops on the belt to hang a GPS and such on. But other than that it is perfect.
When I loaded it up and put it on I was just flabbergasted at the fit. The padded shoulder straps are just the right length so they don't cut into your arm. No fancy S shapes are needed. It's a big pack but the compression straps make it easy to adjust the volume. And you get to walk standing straight up. It's kinda spendy but well worth the price. Now if I can just live long enough to wear in out. :)

great pack!

A wicked pack in all aspects! While I agree with some of the other statements regarding the use more natural or traditional materials, the designer may have had good reasons for selecting nylon, so I won't count that as a negative against it. Otherwise, it's logically engineered and versatile plus, it's built like a Panzer tank! Review by Mic (Posted on 8/21/2010)
