I use this pack when I need something a little bigger than my deluxe roll top scout pack; usually for long weekends camping, trips for work. I usually keep it packed as a bag for those spontaneous trips.

This pack is a classic. I have bought, owned and used 5 different Duluth packs over the last 35 years and they are made well, stand up to outdoor use day after day and year after year. The way the pocket flaps cover is just one detail that sets them apart. The only complaint that I have is that Duluth has started using a pressed, coated leather product for straps that is not real leather. These done hold up well and cheapen the whole pack. I took them off and riveted real leather straps on - like Duluth used to use. Wish they would go back because then they'd be the best, bar none!

Timeless, priceless craftsmanship that your grandkids will use some day and tell stories about you. If you don't own a piece it is hard to understand the feeling, sounds weird I know. It's like going back in time, owning a piece of history, the smell of the leather, the way the canvas looks better with time and the countless adventures it has been on. The ultimate gift if you want to show someone how much you care. I gave my oldest son a bag at college graduation and he carries it everyday, he probably thinks of his accomplishment and that dad was extremely proud, over and over. I might be an old sole and be getting older but regardless, this stuff just makes me feel good and is the best that money can buy. I might even be slightly addicted, but I know others that have the same or worse problem than me. Trust me, get some, use it, get more, thank me later.

Have owned my Wanderer for about fifteen years now. It has carried everything from gym clothes to hunting gear and has been in nearly every state of the union and Canada. It's been used hard...some might say abused even. But it's still here...waiting for its next adventure; be it riding piggy back on another pack for a week or going out for a day by itself, it's ready for anything I ask of it. It's built to last and it's built to perform and it does both very well. Bet you you can't find a better daypack!

As soon as I got it I gave it a wax treatment and I absolutely love it, it really is the best backpack I have ever owned. I do wish that the leather straps on the front and side pouches were a bit thicker leather but still love the bag.

I bought my wanderer over 8 years ago and have been so happy with it. It has been with me every day since I bought it and has survived so much. I loved that it had the stamp of the woman who made it (which has since worn away as I use it so much) and it was so well constructed. The only downside is the canvas is literally wearing away. Both side pockets have sizeable holes in the bottom of them and the main pocket has a couple of small holes in them. The straps are fraying a bit. Honestly though if the fabric just simply wearing out before any of the construction pieces wear out, you can tell how well this bag is made. Not even any of the stitching has failed in any way. I would replace my bag with the same when it finally falls apart in a heartbeat.

This pack has accompanied my family to many National Parks this past year; Glacier NP, Rocky Mountain NP and Arches NP. With three kids we can easily fit two large Hydroflask water bottles on the side pockets, and an extra inside with snacks, extra clothing, a blanket, sunscreen and many of our other items needed for our hiking. I keep my extra DSLR lenses in there also. I usually carry along a small first aid also for any minor slips the kids may have on the trails. So as you can tell - there is plenty of room in this pack!

Great backpack!

I use this as a camping and basic small game hunting pack and it works great. Super durable which is great because I hunt hard for a small game hunter and I have two boys that go along for those hunts and it’s survived all of them. Next purchase is an Outlander.

Want longer straps.

Received the bag today. Very pleased with quality and look. Definitely will last the long haul. Mainly purchased for travel, hiking and bushcraft. Where it fall short for me. I have a 54r chest standing at 5' 9". The straps are short about 3 or 4 loops for me. Going to purchase the extensions next. Without extensions, not the most comfortable as it punches me under the arms. I extended them temporarily with stirrup straps that added the extra 5/6 inches I needed for it to be comfortable. I would say maxed, a 50 chest would wear it comfortably. Anyone wearing a 2xl and up will need an extension. Other than that, this will handle zombies, world travel etc.

I bought the Wanderer pack over 10 years ago and use it for day hikes. It is very well made and has plenty of pockets to easily find your gear. I did add a sternum strap. It still looks and performs well after years of use.

Best backpack I've ever had

Somewhere around 2004 or 2005 my parents got fed up with my school bags falling apart from carry too many books all the time, so they sat me down with a Duluth catalog and had me pick something that appealed to me.\r\nI picked the Wanderer. I liked the straightforward durability, the functionality of the pockets and I thought it was pretty cute as well. For over 10 years I mercilessly packed that thing and dragged it all over the world with me. Over the years I did some very minor repairs but it was always very reliable. In 2017 the thing that finally took it down was mold from being stored in a closet in a damp, shoddy house during massive rain storms. Now that I've found them again, I can't wait to save up and buy one for myself! Probably one of the waxed ones this time.

It has been a few years since I've been to the BWCA, but Duluth Pack has always been known for their quality and craftsmanship in the products they make. I purchased the waxed khaki backpack and am very impressed with the color and durable feel the waxed canvas has. This bag will serve two primary purposes, the first is for physical fitness and exercise. Gone are the days of running 5k or jogging to get in shape and power walks through the neighborhood are monotonous and boring. This pack will be perfect for carrying weighted items and hydration while hiking on some of the local park and trail systems throughout the state. Secondly, this pack will make an excellent travel bag or daypack for various trips and outdoor adventures. It's durable, practical and ruggedly stylish.

I have had the Wanderer in black and the Rambler in waxed khaki over 10 years. The Wanderer has become my day pack for the last 5-6 years. I love the single canvas cinched closed with the flap closed with buckles... no points of failure like with zippers or clips. The flap leather wears and softens well while keeping its integrity. Love these packs!

I have a waxed canvas version. I have had it for 25+ years. If it is not on me, it is in my truck. Sometimes in the cab, sometimes in the bed. I have carried it for days in rain. Never once got wet in side. I have been a scout master for that time, and I use it in the outdoors multiple times a week. It shows its age, and it looks like it belongs where it is. No holes, still tight and sound. I wish I had held up so well. When I pass other hikers, they often ask about my pack. Worth every penny.

When I found this pack I first thought "hmmm seems a little pricey". Once I received the pack I knew exactly why it is priced the way it is, this pack is not only rugged and useful, it also looks absolutely amazing. I now keep it with me at all times filled with my (just Incase) items. One of if not the best packs I have ever purchased. THANKS!!!

I have owned mine for about 5 years, and I like it. Over the years though, I have made several mods including: wrapping (stitching/riveting) shoulder straps with deer hide as with any weight in pack, they can cut into your shoulders, attaching a cross-chest bucket to provide a better support/fit, I stitched on 4 leather strips on top of top flap and underneath so I can loop through webbing to accommodate attaching gear (tent poles, blankets, tarps, etc.), and just recently, I added a padding/barrier to back of pack (where meets user's back) made from thin/stiff plastic and a foam mat all wrapped with deer hide and stitched to secure. I realize this is suppose to be a day pack, but considering the dimensions and capacity, I decided to mod it instead of buy a bigger one. Again, love it but I think some of these mods would make sense for future designs.

I have had my Wanderer for about two years and it has become my work horse for hikes and weekend trips. It looks awesome, and provides more storage than you would think just looking at it. The front and side pockets provide easy access to your "gimme right now" items. The only downfall is that it is somewhat short, and I am a big and tall dude so I feel a bit like a giant carrying it. That said, I highly recommend this pack. Well worth the spend!

I purchased the wanderer in the green and found it to be of great quality. However, I thought the waxed canvass might be better than the plain green. So, I returned it and received my waxed canvass one today in the mail. I find it to be of great quality. They are expensive and I know the price can deter some, and I am by no means wealthy, but it is worth the money (I got mine on sale). Buy the pack- you will be happy. It provides American jobs (which is your neighbor) and they will buy your product or service (in other words, keep each other in business).

About this time last year I bought the Bushcrafter pack and loved it but it was a little big for a day hike or even for overnight. So I just bought the Wanderer in the Waxed Canvas and I love it. it is just the right size I was looking for. It holds everything I need for a day hike and even a one or two over night hikes. I also love the look. I'm all about old school and this is it. The waxed canvas is also very well done. proud to own both of my Duluth packs. I'm sure this will not be my last.

Bought this pack as a handy day pack but has since been in the bilge of many a canoe. This pack has seen service in the BWCA, and on river trips in New England as well as my home state NC. For a number of years it has ridden in the passenger seat of my work truck where it holds stuff for the workday as well as dog stuff while on a bird hunt. It's faded and has one small rip that is to small to repair. The straps are aged and soft from it's years of use. I guess this pack is 15 or 16 years old now and will be handed down to my son one day. I t will carry the essentials for his travels and along with it a little of his fathers spirit.

I use this pack for every day for work. I'm quite sure that it will last until I retire. (I'm 59.) The materials and construction are first rate. I like the adjustable drawstring at the opening of the pack. The side compartments are right-sized to organize my smaller items.
