Im planning a trip for seven for some sightseeing and hiking out West this summer and the expandability of the Roll top design will be great on the go and on the different trails. I ordered it in Navy and it looks awesome coupled with the brown leather.
First off, the customer service at Duluth Pack is top tier! The folks there are some of the kindest, most polite, generous, and helpful individuals I have ever had the pleasure of contacting for customer support. Secondly, I have two Deluxe Scout Roll-Top Packs now (blue and waxed khaki), and I love them both! The quality and attention to detail they put into every pack is well worth the price. These packs are rugged, durable, and look great! I wear them when riding my motorcycle for the ruggedness and aesthetic appeal. I do wish they had an option for all colors offered to be pre-waxed, but I also understand why they do not, considering they get their canvas rolls from another supplier. But, tha tis why they also sell the wax so you can do it on your own at the house! Something I did for one of my other packs I bought from them, which turned into a fun DIY project. Though, I must admit, it certainly didn't turn out as good as their pre-waxed bags. Haha!
I love this packs quality. Sturdy!! Very classy-leather bottom makes it executive quality. I have owned Duluth Packs for years. Never wear out. Never go out of style. A worthwhile investment for the graduate/- or soon to graduate!! Ask their size choices many to choose from!!
I recently watched an outdoors show that featured Duluth Pack and the process in how they are made. \nThe show featured the making of a Deluxe Roll Top Scout pack. I was impressed so I decided to order one.\nI ordered the Deluxe Roll Top Scout pack in the Great Lakes color scheme It arrived three days later. I can say\nunequivocally that this is one of the finest backpacks I have ever owned. The craftsmanship is second to none.\nThe stitching was flawless (Thank You, Angie) and the materials are superb. This is one impressive pack that I will\n enjoy for years to come, and I plan to hand it down to my grandson. I will purchase another one in the near future \nfor my other grandson. Thanks to all of you for making a superior product.
High quality backpack! I use mine almost everyday and constantly get people asking where I purchased it.
Quality tops quality every time
I love this bag! it's the perfect size to take for daily carry. The only down side is the leather straps that hold the folding top down came cracked and the back straps are cracking. I treat and clean it every other month as I am in Arizona and it's extra dry here but to no avail in those areas sadly. To be fair, I do not baby things.. I should be a product reviewer with how much wear I can achieve on hard use items.
I have this pack in the waxed Khaki and I love it! I am currently in Europe and this is a great small bag for overnight or as a carry-on. My favorite feature are the top straps. The straps work great for things like a rain shell, sweater, or a shemagh that you would want quick access to without digging through the pack. The side zipper is a game changer as a carry-on bag. Don't want to open the roll top just to grab a snack on your flight? No problem! Highly recommend this pack.
Probably the loveliest pack I've owned. It has a wonderful design! As far as quality goes . Sadly it lacks very much. After 2 years of light travels with this beautiful pack , the single stitched seams gave out on the side and bottom . Very poor stitch quality. Sadly I will never buy or recommend this product.
I use this pack all the time. From packing for overnight stays to weekend excursions in the cities to days out in the deer blind. I love it!
I absolutely love this pack. It is a perfect size for hiking with my dog. I love the side zipper access, the leather bottom and the wings definitely improve the pack. I have a wanderer and rambler they are wonderful packs but more than what I was looking for hiking. I have been a DP customer for over 35 years. It’s true the canvas and leather get better with age and use!
I travel frequently and always struggle with bags that are too big or too small to meet my needs. This pack is awesome with the expandable size. My absolute favorite thing about this pack is the side zipper that allows you to access all of your items without having to undo the top straps. This is my go to for a carry on, hiking, or day travels. Great quality that I have come to expect from Duluth pack. Well worth it!
I own a lot of backpacks, from cheap Herschel to Filson, Frost River, Bally, MCM, Gucci and LV, just to name a few. Compare this to my Filson or cheaper brand like Frost River (not cheap in quality), this backpack's zipper feel like it belong in Wal-Mart. Just fired whoever think it was a good idea to use such a cheap looking zipper on a quality bag like this.
I really do love this backpack. I've had it for around 6 months now and use it for school and as a carry-on backpack during travels (you can put a surprising amount in this by adjusting the roll top). I love the side entry zipper. I can easily pull my 15" mac book pro in and out. I throw this pack around, and the leather everywhere still barely looks used. My only complaint is that a tooth came out of the front zipper, so i have been using the pack with the front pocket gaping open. I am hoping to mail the pack back and see if the company will fix it. I also plan on waxing the pack soon. I will definitely continue to use Duluth products though. I'm sure they didn't manufacture the zipper. Everything they themselves craft is rugged and sleek.
Build quality is superior.
great day pack!
I purchased this pack for commuting and running around town on my bike. The bag holds my lunch, and a change of clothes. The new additions such as the side entry zipper and the shoulder strap side wings make this a comfortable and practical bag. A pre-waxed version does not exist in the olive, so I had to wax it myself. A 2 hour process and three days of drying. Looks good waxed if you take your time and use a hair dryer to even out the wax and set it in the sun to dry.
I bought this bag because of all the positive things I have heard about it. I was beyond excited when it finally came in the mail. It is extremely high quality but I'm disappointed because the leather straps that are used to hold the bag closed are very wrinkled and starting to crack. I would expect this after some time but not on a newly purchased bag that has not been used.
Great bag for a city
Love it! Durable and easy to use.
Really happy with the purchase. Fast shipment. Excellent quality and beautiful.
This is a well made bag and for an overnight stay, day trip or work use it is perfect. I love the side access zip. However although it meets some needs in others it is not practical such as pocket size. I wanted to put a laptop protector into the bag (Perminant Feature). Duluth explained this was not possible. I have since had a saddler do this for me with great success. Some loops/ rings would be a. Emeritus to clip on items. Also some bed roll loops. Overall I like the bag but minor changes would improve the usability. Cost to ship to the uk plus tax etc means this is a very costly item.
