The Pack Report

A Place Called: Hart Haven A-Frame

A Place Called: Hart Haven A-Frame

With summer right around the corner, it’s time to pack up the car and head to the cabin. Northland cabins are known for great lakes and a good time, a place to get away and connect with nature. Now, not everyone has their very own cabin, and that’s a-okay. There are plenty of places for rent on Airbnb. Of them all, we suggest checking out the “Hart Haven A-Frame.”

Built in the 1960s, the A-frame cabin stands tall and wide on the beachfront of Pike Lake. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 ½ bathrooms that feel woodsy with a twist of modern décor. One of the most impressive spaces is the spacious living room with a large fireplace that extends from the 30-foot ceilings and overlooks the lake from a wall of windows. Owners Emily and Derek Johnson truly did a marvelous job of updating and decorating the place while also keeping its originality. In fact, the kitchen has been left relatively untouched; Emily notes it has a “fun retro vibe.” Every room in the cabin is remarkable.

The A-Frame sits on 7 acres of Wisconsin woods which faces Lake Millicent which is part of the Pike Chain of Lakes, a long body of water that twists and turns about. There are plenty of hiking and sporting trails that move through clusters of old pine trees on the property. In the summer, visitors can swim right from the front yard or take a boat out and relax. As mentioned, there is also plenty of hiking trails all around. At night visitors can sit around a bonfire and look up at the stars above. If you are looking to go in the winter, there are plenty of activates to do as well, from ice-skating to ice fishing.

The A-frame is located in the small and cheery town of Iron River in Wisconsin. There are plenty of local small businesses, restaurants, and bars. The Johnsons also point out that there are a couple of great breweries and a winery. There is no shortage of fun activities to do.

Lastly, both Emily and Derek have a few Duluth Pack products and recommend them. Duluth Pack handcrafts great products for the outdoors and cabin living. When traveling to the A-frame, make sure to keep all of your gear organized and in one place. The Wanderer is built for the woods and the trails, a pack great for cabin adventure. The Roll-Top Scout is a bag for all of your weekend needs. The Uptown Grab-N-Go is made to keep all of your small accessories together. No matter the pack you choose, Duluth Pack ensures premium materials that hold up over time.
