I liked the rambler due to its size but wanted some extras. So I customized it by adding the leather shoulder straps (and lengthened them) and a buckle flap front pocket instead of the zipper pocket. It cost $90 for the customization ($45/per add-on), which wasn't too bad. Initially the front pocket wasn't right size, but talked with Customer Service and they had me send it back. I did have to pay for that shipping. I got it back in time for my trip to Taiwan. I was able to fit 10-days worth of clothing, some books and 2 extra pairs of shoes. Didn't have to check a bag! When I came back, the customs agent couldn't believe I had everything in just 1 bag. Leather needs some breaking in, but its been a great bag so far.

    Product Review
I've been using my Rambler since 2009, and it has aged very well. Has that nice broken in feeling that took awhile to achieve. First rate quality build and I'm very happy after using it mostly for travel. It's been checked baggage, carry on luggage, thrown into trunks and in and out of tents with no real signs of wear anywhere. I do have a couple of things I don't like though. It swallows so much stuff that I usually overpack when using it-I know, my problem not theirs. But it seriously hauls a ton of stuff with no issues. The one real issue is that the rivets for the back strap are rough on the inside of the pack and can snag (technical type especially) material as it gets stuffed in or pulled out of a full pack. A canvas cover of some kind would be great. While that feels nitpicky, it's the only con I could think of after 8 years of use. No regrets, and expect it to last long after I'm done with it.
